Minister Hoang Tuan Anh meets the EU’s Independent Expert
 
(TITC) – On 22 April 2015, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh had a meeting with the European Union (EU)’s Independent Expert, Ms. Patricia Magaret.
 
Viet Nam tourism industry has received supports from EU since 1990, through such projects as Human Resource Development in Tourism Project implemented from Feb 2004 to Feb 2010 and Environmentally & Socially Responsible Tourism Capacity Development Program (ESRT Program) which was launched in Mar 2011 and will be finished in Nov 2015. The ESRT Program aims to strengthen the capacity of institution and human in order to achieve significant benefits of socio-economic development from tourism industry while protecting and enhancing natural and cultural resources.   
 
Ms. Patricia Magaret appreciated the achievements of Viet Nam tourism industry and the contribution of EU Project to improving quality of tourism training, community development, promoting cultural tourism and linking tourism areas, improving the livelihoods of local people and forming Destination Management Organization…
 
At the meeting, Minister Hoang Tuan Anh informed that Vietnamese Government welcomed and appreciated the active support of EU Project which includes the ESRT Program with 3 parts of Policy Support and Institution Strengthening; Product Competitiveness and Public–Private Partnerships; and VTOS/Vocational Education & Training.
 
He recommended by the time the ESRT Program finishes in Nov 2015, EU Project should closely collaborate with the relevant sides of Viet Nam tourism to work out things need to be done and how to ultilize the outcomes of the program in future.
