Update: Friday, August 22, 2014

As many as four tourism sites in the central province of Quang Binh have been listed among the top 50 must-see travel destinations in Viet Nam, according to the Viet Nam Records Organisation (VRO).
The rating was made by VRO, travel associations and agencies, experts in tourism field and domestic and foreign tourists.

Accordingly, Phong Nha cave was listed in the top 5 Vietnamese caves with mysterious beauty; Ngang pass, which links Quang Binh and Ha Tinh provinces, was recognised as one of the top 5 most famous passes in Vietnam, meanwhile Nhat Le beach was among the 10 most beautiful beaches and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park was chosen as one of the 20 most popular destinations in the country.

In recent years, Quang Binh has seen a strong development in tourism, which is considered as a spearhead economic sector of the locality.

In the first seven months of this year, the province received over 2.4 million tourists, nearly doubling the figure of the same period last year.

The province is well-known for various natural attractions, especially the ‘Kingdom of caves’, a complex of over 300 caves, found in the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, which was recognised as a World Natural Heritage Site by the UNESCO last year.

With the opening of Son Doong cave in 2013, Quang Binh was instantly catapulted onto the bucket lists of travellers around the world.

Recently, the New York Times named Quang Binh as one of the most attractive destinations in Asia and eighth out of the world’s 52 top must-go sites for 2014, meanwhile the US magazine Business Insider has included Son Doong cave in the list of 12 most impressive caves in the same year./.
