Conical hats taken as logo of 2015 National Tourism Year

The logo for the 2015 National Tourism Year is a circle formed by eight traditional conical hats representing Vietnamese natural and cultural heritage recognised by the UNESCO with the image of the Ho Dynasty Citadel in Thanh Hoa province at the centre, the provincial People’s Committee and Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on December 30.

The logo features two natural heritage sites of Ha Long Bay and Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, five cultural heritage of the Central Sector of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, the Citadel of the Ho Dynasty, the Complex of Hue Monuments, Hoi An Ancient Town, and My Son Sanctuary, and one mixed heritage of Trang An Landscape Complex.

Under the theme “Connecting world heritage”, the 2015 National Tourism Year aims to promote the tangible and intangible cultural heritage values of Vietnam and Thanh Hoa province in particular to domestic and foreign tourists.

A special art performance will kick start the event which is slated for next March.

Outstanding events include the Japanese Culture Days in January, an international stone sculpture camp in May, and a cuisine festival in June.

In June 2014, the People’s Committee and Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province launched a contest to design the logo for the 2015 National Tourism Year. The organisation board received 83 entries from across the country. The first prize went to Nguyen Ngoc Huy Man from central Da Nang city.

Located on mountainous-midland, lowland, and coastal terrains, Thanh Hoa province has favourable conditions for developing tourism. The province aims to welcome 100,000-120,000 foreign tourist arrivals and 5-5.3 million domestic visitors in 2014 and earn 158.6 million USD in revenues.
