Cultural events lead to fireworks competition

An International cuisine event will be held in the central city as a lead up to this weekend's scheduled seventh Da Nang International Fireworks Competition, a contest between teams representing five countries.

Vice director of the city's Culture, Sports and Tourism department, Tran Chi Cuong, said the programme of events will explore the cuisine, lifestyle, culture and fashion of the competing teams from South Africa, Australia, Poland, the US and Viet Nam.

Cuong said the schedule of events will take place at the Novotel Hotel Square on Tran Phu Street starting this coming Saturday and lasting through Tuesday.

Then, on April 28 and 29, the teams' fireworks will compete to embody the theme of – A Symphony of Colours – and win over the expected 500,000-strong crowd.

Da Nang has been the only city in Viet Nam hosting an annual international fireworks festival since 2008. It became the biennial event from 2013.
